Tipping Point Community seeks a Director of Talent with a passion for changing the landscape of poverty and philanthropic giving in the Bay Area to build out, define, and lead Tipping Point’s internal talent efforts. The Director of Talent reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with all members of the staff. This new role is critical to ensuring the successful growth of Tipping Point in the coming years and brings with it an opportunity to define and deploy the organization’s human capital strategy to recruit, select, onboard, and retain top talent. The role will also include a focus on the organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Our talent is our most valuable resource and as Tipping Point is now in its second decade, we need a Director of Talent who is excited about growing and supporting the team to reach its full potential.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
Experience Requirements
  • 7+ years relevant professional experience including 4 years in a human capital or other similar role
  • Self-starter with demonstrated experience building new initiatives from the ground up
  • Strong attention to detail; highly organized
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and willingness to pitch in at all times
  • Sense of humor is a must
  • Strong team player who also works well independently
  • Commitment to Tipping Point’s mission and values and ability to operate with the highest degree of integrity in representing the organization
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Cultivate internal and external talent pipelines
  • Identify and build relationships with sources of diverse talent, including but not limited to local academic institutions, job training programs, and professional associations
  • Revise and refine recruitment and hiring policies and practices to ensure all posted positions reach a wide audience and candidate pools are diverse
  • Oversee all internal hiring, working closely with hiring managers
  • Post job descriptions and manage recruitment inbox
  • Assess and recommend improvements to current recruitment and hiring processes, including use of Salesforce
  • Work closely with hiring managers to define each job to represent and achieve Tipping Point’s vision, purpose and strategies, clearly defining required competencies
  • Design and drive the candidate assessment and interview processes to sustain a high talent bar, while delivering an exceptional candidate experience
  • Partner with hiring managers to champion the unique Tipping Point culture, values, brand, and employee experience throughout the interview process and the employment lifecycle
  • Work with the organization’s professional employment organization on matters related to commencement, salary and/or title updates, and termination of employment (offer, job change, and resignation letters)
  • Revise, refine, and oversee organizational onboarding practices for all new employees
  • Maintain status of all open positions
  • Set the vision for and ensure successful execution of a comprehensive talent management strategy to ensure Tipping Point is best-in-class at developing, engaging, and retaining top talent
  • Direct and oversee annual performance management
  • Review current process and recommend improvements aligned to organization’s vision
  • Develop clear expectations and protocols for managing staff who are underperforming.
  • Develop position-specific and organization-wide competencies that help staff understand their respective roles in fulfilling the organization’s mission
  • Develop, implement and manage process to measure retention, turnover rates, and staff satisfaction; utilize data to refine talent management strategy
  • Align resources and support professional learning and growth of all staff
  • Develop process for individualized professional growth and learning plans
  • Develop and oversee and team-wide learning agenda
  • Assess the organization’s compensation structure compared to industry benchmarks and sector surveys
  • Work with team managers to develop proactive succession plans for critical roles throughout the organization
  • In partnership with representatives from other teams, lead planning of annual Play Day (and goals share out); Day of Service; an other team-wide learning and offsite activities
  • Serve as a liaison between Tipping Point and its professional employer organization for benefits open enrollment, ad hoc projects, and case management as needed
  • Ensure the organization’s compliance with required trainings
  • Maintain Employee Manual
  • Lead the development of and manage a cross-functional equity working group charged with refining and upholding equity statement
  • In partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, conduct a policy and systems audit in order to assess organizational values, culture, talent practices and board development for equity outcomes
  • Assess potential barriers and develop strategies focused on recruiting and retaining a diverse staff
  • Ensure that team-wide learning agenda includes opportunities to promote cultural competency, understanding and a culture of equity and inclusion
